As usual, our shakedown cruise was to Ipswich, which served two purposes this year as Deborah and Adrian Cole took delivery of their new boat, "Mrs C" at the same time.

Inevitably, the cruising commodore failed to put in an appearance at the outset of the cruising year, due to a broken calorifier, but did manage to rock up for the inaugural beer and curry fest in the evening. 

Mrs C duly showed a clean pair of heels to every other boat in the yacht club.  we noticed she seemed to be lacking a few of the customary creature comforts, sprayhood, dodgers, anchor etc which the skipper attributed to weight saving and reduced windage.  We thought he was joking (little did we know!).

At least Deborah was able to persuade him that hot water and fridges were not up for negotiation and all the space left by his weight saving left more room for handbags!!!

A fun weekend, improved I understand by lack of cruising commodore.  let's hope for many more of them.
