Club President's first outing of the year, plagued by light (sometimes no)
winds, a gentle sail down Wallet until the wind died to such an extent that we
were in danger of missing the tidal gate at Bradwell.
4 yachts in company, Irella III, Full Circle, Mrs. C and Levanter, there was
another imperative, to reach Bradwell before the FA Cup Final kicked off,
necessitating use of iron topsail once once past Eagle.
Generously hosted by Yacht Club, the Cup Final proved a subject causing some
division within the ranks, but all dissolved once pilgrimage to Green Man
underway.
Close quarter manoeuvring a feature as this year no recce party to secure
table, but successfully managed to find room for all of and another fine meal,
enjoyed by all, together with additional shore parties.
Return trip saw winds of Force 2-3, with some ambitious tacking close inshore
to try and beat against a foul tide.
A round trip of 50 miles, light winds (max F3), good food, good company
and football thrown in!
