Though this year’s cruising was something of a mixed bag
weather wise, we still completed a successful year with more members and boats
involved than ever before.
Over the course of the
season we managed approximately 550 miles of club cruising despite being
unwanted at Southwold, and some events being curtailed by the weather.
At one time or another, 6
club boats joined events over the year. An aircraft carrier joined
the fleet, (at least the aft deck seemed big enough for helicopters)
and over 35 members went out at least
once. Many went on several events and on several boats too. Additionally, we
introduced at the very minimum, 20 non-members to the sport during the season.
We never got to Southwold as a club event (although a few of managed a sneaky
trip in September and discovered there is a Lord Nelson there too!). London,
the Ore and the Deben all remained beyond our reach this year. However, that
means we have a flying start to 2005 and I hope that we all get the opportunity
to put those destinations, plus some new ones into our log books for next year.
Here’s to 2005.
